In France, they affect almost 15 million people, representing 20% of the population and include such diseases as diabetes, chronic bronchitis, mucoviscidosis, multiple sclerosis, AIDS, depression and Alzheimer's disease.
Today, 9 million patients rely on full medical insurance cover as the result of a chronic disease, representing 60% of medical insurance health spending. This is the result of the ageing of the population, an increase in the number of dependent individuals and the increasing cost of therapeutic innovations.
Nevertheless, there are numerous levers to optimise the management of chronic diseases and they must be implemented in light of both the requirements of healthcare operatives and the expectations of the patients.
To participate, the projects must be innovative, serve the common good and provide a solution to one of the four problems raised:
- Organise: optimise the healthcare circuit and favour interactions between healthcare professionals and the patient
- Diagnose: towards an earlier and more reliable diagnosis
- Treat: relieve and limit the manifestations of the disease, its secondary effects and their evolution
- Compensate: orient innovation towards greater autonomy
